How To Love Monday’s

I happen to be a morning person. You may not be, and that’s okay. I’m one of these “annoying Monday people” that are chirpy and excited to get the week started. It may also be because I was a Barista most of my life.

Whether you’re a morning person or not, there is no reason to hate Monday’s.

Consciously making an effort to start the week  off on in a more positive mindset makes the rest of the week better. Here’s how you can look forward to Monday.

Positive mindset

When I mention a positive,  I’m not talking about trying to be positive ALL the time, we are human and need to feel the fells too. Instead,  deciding it’ll be a great day and week is the first step.

Some ways I do this and clients do this are:

  • Frame a quote you love that motivates you when you read it.
  • Carry around a pretty photo that’s inspiring.
  • Do yoga, exercise,
  • Meditate, journal, affirmations, etc.

Whatever works best for you to get into a more positive mindset.

Brew Coffee (or Tea)

As a coffee lover, the process of grinding the beans and hand brewing my single origin whole-bean coffee is my “me time” that’s very zen. Then that first sip… breathing it in and letting out a happy sigh. Yes, it’s a great day.

The caffeine helps too, just know your limits. Also, be sure to go without, or minimal, sugar to prevent a crash later.

Of course, caffeine will never keep you awake like having a full nights rest.

Get More Sleep

Not getting enough sleep?

If your brain won’t seem to shut off, try writing down everything you’re thinking about. Do a massive brain dump. Not only can you refer back to these notes the next morning, you won’t have to remember any of it. Our brain only holds so much space. Sometimes you have to create that space.

Worrying too much?

Write down each thing that is worrying you. Then, go through and ask yourself “can I control this?” If you can’t control the situation, then accept that things will work out the way they are supposed to. Otherwise, take ACTION on things you CAN control yourself, or outsource it if needed.

Schedule your sleep time

Yes, I’m saying give yourself a bed time to make sure you get enough sleep. Some people need more sleep than others. If I don’t have seven hours of sleep, I’m drained and groggy the next day. But, when I am rested, it’s easier to wake up on time and hit the ground running.

Dress to feel special

Just because you work from home, doesn’t mean working in pj’s is the best option. You can still be comfortable and give yourself a boost of confidence by wearing your favorite outfit, bright colors, and taking a few extra minutes to do your hair.

Don’t forget to smile, it’s contagious!

Dance Party!

When I started playing upbeat, happy music, I noticed it was easier to stay in a better mood all day. It gave me more energy during my productivity time too.

Plan your day

When you have a plan for the day, it’s easier to stay focused and knock everything out, without getting overwhelmed.

Limit your daily goals to three main things that must get done, then do the lower priority, but also important, things.

Since I’m a list-maker, it helps me to do a couple easy tasks before starting my first big goal of the day. Seeing something checked and crossed off builds momentum from instant satisfaction in an accomplishment, no matter how small.

Knock out menial tasks

Monday’s tend to take time getting into a groove.

This is my preferred day to knock out paying bills, ordering, weekly business errands, scheduling meetings, going to meetings and other paper work that needs done.

Just think, all of it will be behind you and everything is scheduled, which makes the rest of the week easier and you’ll be more focused on paid projects.
